  • I am about to start 8th grade at Kenwood K-8 Center and play the sax in my school band (like my dad did).
  • I'm a competitive jump roper -  for the past 7 years I have been jumping rope on a team, the Jumpin' Beinz.  We're a competitive team and have competed in the Junior Olympics every year.  I've been in the paper and on tv with my team!  We do demonstrations around the city - last spring we performed at the half time show during a college basketball game!!  A lot of the time, the team gets paid - I guess that makes us professionals!   • I've played on soccer, flag football and baseball teams and like playing all ball games, basketball, baseball, football...and I can give you most any stats you could imagine.
  • I want to become an ichthyologist (a branch of marine biology).
  • I have as many sisters as I have pets (4 of each)!   (Update 2/12/12 - We lost Seymour, our guinea pig.  He was the best guinea pig and we will miss him.)  But I still have 4 sisters! And now I have 3 brothers-in-law.  My sister Emily just got married on February 25th!
  • I became an uncle 3 years ago when my nephew Shane was born.

NJHS Induction

Derrick was inducted into National Junior Honor Society on January 26th. 
Membership is offered to students who show outstanding scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship.
We always knew that about him...it's good to know that his school sees it too!
